Instructions
1. Slice cucumber lengthwise into thirds. Use the two outer portions, which have the fewest seeds.
2. Place one portion on a cutting board peel side up. Take a diagonal slice toward
one end and discard the end. Then, cut three thin slices so that they remain attached at one end. Cut the triplet from the cucumber, and then continue slicing the cucumber in the same way.
3. Fold the tips of the free ends of each
triplet over and tuck them into the attached ends, thus forming one "petal" of the flower. Place the bases three such petals so they point to a common center. Use a circular slice of a red beet or carrot as the center of the
flower. Cut grooves in a gridiron pattern on the surface, and then place it at he center of the flower.
