Stewed Veal With Potatoes

Ingredients
1 kilo of veal or tender beef
1 kilo of potatoes
˝ cup of tomato juice
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 cup of oil
Salt, pepper

Method
Wash the meat and cut into small portions. Put into a saucepan with a little water and the onion to boil till all the water has been absorbed. Then, add the butter and allow to brown, making sure that the pieces of meat are turned so as to brown evenly. Add salt and pepper and the tomato juice. Add 2 more cups of water to the gravy which has formed and allow to stew. Peel the potatoes and dice them. When the veal is almost ready, add a cup of water and then the potatoes. Salt again. When the potatoes have boiled and after the water has been absorbed and a gravy has formed, serve with freshly milled pepper.
