Chocolate Sauce

Ingredients

Makes ½ pint (1¼ cups)

¼ pint (⅔ cup) water
2 oz. (¼ cup) sugar
½ teaspoon instant coffee powder
¼ teaspoon vanilla essence
2 oz. plain (semi-sweet) chocolate chips
1 teaspoon cornflour (cornstarch)
1 tablespoon milk


Method

Put the water into a medium sized heat resistant bowl. Cook on HIGH for 2 minutes. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved.

Stir in the coffee and vanilla essence and cook for about 2 minutes until the mixture boils. Leave to cool slightly, then add the chocolate, stirring until it has melted.

Blend the cornflour with the milk, add to the chocolate mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens. Stir occasionally. This sauce should be of pouring consistency.
