Oriental Sauce

Ingredients

Makes 1 pint (2½ cups)

4 tablespoons (⅓ cup) soy sauce
2 tablespoons (3 tablespoons) cornflour (cornstarch)
10 oz. can concentrated consommé
½ pint (1¼ cups) water
2 tablespoons (3 tablespoons) dry sherry
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
1 clove garlic, crushed

Method

Put the soy sauce in a large heat resistant bowl and blend in the cornflour. Gradually stir in the consommé, water, sherry, ginger and garlic, mixing well so that the cornflour does not remain on the bottom of the bowl.

Cook on HIGH for 4-5 minutes until the sauce is clear. Stir occasionally. Serve with cubes of cooked pork or chicken.
