Sticky Buns

Ingredients

14 oz. packet bread (hot roll) mix
3 oz. (⅓ cup) butter
4 oz. (½ cup) granulated sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 oz. (½ cup) soft (light) brown sugar
2 oz. (½ cup) walnuts, chopped

Method

Prepare the mix according to the directions on the packet and leave to rise. Divide the dough into 2 equal parts. Roll out each half to an 8 x 16 inch rectangle on a floured board. Cook the butter on HIGH for 1 or 2 minutes until melted. Brush each rectangle with a little melted butter and sprinkle with the sugar and cinnamon.


Roll up like a Swiss roll (jelly roll) from the long side and cut each roll into 8 pieces. Divide the remaining butter between two 9 inch cake pans and sprinkle with the brown sugar and walnuts. Arrange the buns cut side up around the sides of the pans, cover and leave to rise for 15 minutes.


Cook each pan uncovered on HIGH for 8 minutes until a skewer comes out clean. Give the pan ¼ turn every 2 minutes during cooking. Leave to cool for 5 minutes before turning onto a baking tray. Spoon any residual syrup over the buns which may then be browned under the grill.
