Butterscotch Fondue Sauce

Ingredients

Makes ½ pint (1¼ cups)

6 tablespoons (½ cup) evaporated milk
9 oz. (1½ cups) soft (light) brown sugar
1½ oz. (3 tablespoons) butter
1½ tablespoons (2 tablespoons) rum or brandy

Method

Combine the milk, sugar and butter in a large heat resistant jug. Cook on HIGH for 4-5 minutes until the sugar is completely dissolved. Stir occasionally.

Stir in the rum and cool slightly. Pour into a fondue pot and serve at the table, warming the pot over a low flame and use as a dip for cookies and cakes.

This sauce can also be poured over ice cream or puddings. It will store well in the refrigerator in a jar in which it can then be reheated.
