Ingredients
4 slices Granary (whole-wheat) bread
15g/½oz/1 tbsp softened butter
Few crisp cos (Romano) or iceberg lettuce leaves
1 large tomato, sliced
8 rashers (strips) streaky (fatty) bacon
30ml/2 tbsp mayonnaise

Method
1. Spread two of the slices of bread with butter. Lay the lettuce over the bread and cover with sliced tomato.
2. Grill (broil) the bacon rashers until they begin to crisp, then arrange them over the sliced tomato.
3. Quickly spread the two remaining slices of bread with mayonnaise. Lay the bread over the bacon, press the sandwiches together gently and cut in half. Serve immediately.
