Deep Dish Apple Crumb Pie
Ingredients
4 cups apples, sliced and peeled, a little thicker wedges than for pie
½ tsp. nutmeg
½ tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. salt
¾ cup sifted all-purpose flour
⅓ cup orange juice
½ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
½ cup butter or oleo
1 pint vanilla ice cream
½ cup sugar
2 tsp. orange rind, grated
Method
Place apples in deep pie pan, add orange juice. Mix together sugars, orange rind, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt and flour. Cut in butter or oleo. Spread evenly over apples. Bake in 350ºF degree oven 1 hour. Serve warm or cold with a topping of ice cream.
