Walnut Cake

Ingredients
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of milk
˝ cup of butter
2 cups of roughly crushed walnuts
Cinnamon, ground cloves
1˝ cups of crushed rusk
1˝ cups of flour
5 eggs
1 teaspoonful of baking soda
3 teaspoonfuls of baking powder
2 tablespoonfuls of brandy
For the syrup:
3 cups of sugar
2 cups of water
1 tablespoonful of lemon juice

Cooking time: 60 minutes
Method
Beat the butter and add the sugar and the eggs. Pour the milk in and add the walnuts, which should have been mixed with the ground cloves and the cinnamon, the soda dissolved in the brandy, the crushed rusk and the flour mixed with the baking powder.
Combine all this well and spread it in a baking tin coated with butter. Before spreading the mixture in the tin, sprinkle it lightly with flour. Bake for about 1 hour in a hot oven to begin with, then reducing the heat after a while. Prepare the syrup. and pour it over the walnut cake.
