Figs In Honey And Wine
Make this luxurious yet simple dessert during the summer, when figs are plentiful and at their best.
Ingredients
8 fresh figs
White wine, approximately ½ bottle
125 ml clear honey

Method
Wash the figs and place them in a large saucepan. Pour in enough white wine to cover the fruit, then add the honey.
Slowly bring to a boil, then simmer uncovered for approximately 15-20 minutes until the figs are just tender when pierced with a sharp knife. Be careful not to overcook the figs or they will disintegrate.
Turn off the heat, leave the figs in the pan and allow to cool and absorb the wine and honey syrup.
When cool, place two figs on each plate and serve with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream or some Vanilla Custard.
