Honeycomb

Low chemical, free of egg, dairy, gluten, nut and soy.

Some foods can cause a range of symptoms in certain children, such as behaviour disturbances, hyperactivity, hives, mouth ulcers, headaches, limb pains, abdominal pains, or flu-like symptoms.The tendency to food chemical intolerance runs in families.

Ingredients

55 g (⅓ cup) sugar
2 tablespoons golden syrup
2 teaspoons water
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Serves: 5


Method

Lightly grease a 28 x 18 cm ( 11 x 7 in) tin. Put the sugar, golden syrup and water in a large saucepan over low heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Bring to the boil and boil for 7 minutes.

Remove from heat and quickly add the bicarbonate of soda. Stir quickly and pour into the prepared tin. Do not move the tin while the honeycomb is setting.

Mark into pieces while still warm or break into pieces when completely set. Store in an airtight container.
